LONDON

The energy , the history , the people.

Who wouldn't want to visit or even live there?

In this post I am going to give you my top ideas for your visit to good old London town.

THE BUS RIDE (Not as lame as you think...)

A truly fun way to see and get to know the city is a double decker open top bus ride.
There is a tour guide on board who tells you lots of interesting facts and points out the key monuments.
Tickets are sold online but if you just walk around the city streets you will find someone selling, usually with a free add on like Madam Tussauds. We did The Original Bus Tour

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

This is a must see however it can be a little boring if you don't go at the right time.
Try seeing The Changing of the Guard for that Royal experience.

MADAME TUSSAUDS

Yeah so these are popping up everywhere now and yes you should still see Westminster Abbey. But sometimes you just need a break from all the sightseeing and this is the perfect place. Take pictures with everyone from Amy Winehouse to Iron Man or Wolverine.

THE TOWER OF LONDON

This creepy historical site was a definite highlight of our trip. When you visit you will hear about ghosts, Monarchs and the beheading of Anne Boleyn.

Check out their website for more information and interesting stories. Feel like a criminal as you walk on the cobblestone pathways and squeeze up the tiny staircases.

Well thats it from me for now , there are so many wonderful places to visit in London these are just a few that I enjoyed.

Thanks for reading!

Pompeii and Vesuvius Volcano

Monday, 24 September 2012

Hello all!

What amazing destinations have been posted so far!! Rome, Paris, Taiwan and Burma!
To add to the consistency of awesomeness, today is going to be about Pompeii and the stunning Vesuvius Volcano.

As you know Pompeii is an ancient city in Italy. It is definitely worth a visit as the history and artifacts found in this city after many hundreds of years are amazing to see. The tours that take place through the city let you explore all the areas with detailed and experienced tour guides. They can let you know everything from where the markets were to the residential areas and even restaurants and the way they used to work and run.

Vesuvius Volcano is the volcano that is very close by to Pompeii and is the volcano that erupted and covered the city in ash. The Ash was so thick and there was so much that it took the lives of many people. The volcano is still active but is not in a state which it may erupt.

你好(Ni Hao)!

Hi everyone!

I'm Sylvia and I'll be blogging about my travel experiences to Taiwan and Burma!

Taiwan is well known for its wacky street foods...yes weird but tasty foods~ In addition to the foods, their history, culture and well known places are also where travellers should go.

Now...the last time I went back was last year after my HSC and I made sure that the time I went was the times where my school friends were there so we could go on adventures by ourselves. Our main goal was to visit unique places...ok that's a lie...our main goal was to eat fooooooods~ 8D From simply ordinary waffles to tradtional street food to eating food from the toilet...yes THE toilet. I think I might save the most intriguing post till later :)

Waffles...when I think waffles, I think, Max Brenner (doesnt everybody?). At first when my friends suggested to go to this waffle cafe, I was like, "Yeah ok...lets just have waffles for breakfast". Little did I know that these waffles were cheap, filling and extreeemeeelyy tasty!
A bonus for foreign travellers is that the menu is written in both Chinese and English!

The waffle I had was the waffle with seasonal fruits, blueberry sauce and maple syrup. Don't let the image fool you, that dish was fill-ing.

NOTE: Keep in mind that $1AUD = NT$30 (approx.)

Seasonal Fruit Waffle- NT$150

Banana Waffle with Walnuts and Vanilla Ice cream-NT$130

Drinks
Green Tea Mocha-NT$120
The good ol' Hot Chocolate-NT$120
The drinks were also good...just as they should be.

They also had a patisserie which we didnt see till we left the cafe.

These are just some bonus pictures:
These are decorations which show different coffee beans and an old coffee machine
Sugar cubes
That's it for today! 下一次見( Xia Yi Ci Jian - See you next time)

Till next time,
Sylvia L.

Hi Everyone ,

Today I would like to write about one of my favourite destinations, and I think many people would agree it's one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Paris or "the city of love" is known for the Eiffel Tower , croissants and the relaxing luxurious lifestyle.

Here are the top five attractions recommended for your stay in Paris....

Number 5. Champs-ÉlyséesThis is a must do when you first arrive in the city. This famous and expensive street is full of exclusive shops, restaurants and cinemas. Several French monuments are also on the street, including the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde.

Number 4. Notre Dame
This famous church is a must do , but be careful of the beggars strategically positioned outside.

Number 3. Moulin Rouge
Visit this historical place and watch the Can Can dancers for a fun night out.

Number 2. The Palace of Versailles

Located a short train ride from the city this Palace was home to the Royal Family until the uprise of the French Revolution.
Apart from the wonder of the building the gardens are a real highlight , bring a picnic basket and admire the views.
Number 1. The Eiffel Tower
Of course this is a top pick for Paris, the views are worth the long wait to get to the top. Arrive early in the morning or brave the stairs to save time.

Until next time , enjoy your travels!

First Destination - Rome, Italy

Tuesday, 18 September 2012

Rome, Italy

The first destination we are going to talk about it Rome, Italy. Rome is a beautiful destination with a plentiful amount of attractions to see. Rome is an ancient city with many historic monuments such as the Colosseum, Vatican city, etc.

The Colosseum is an ancient amphitheatre that was used to entertain the emperors of Rome, in ways of theatre and gladiator battles.

Vatican city, is the home of all the ancient popes and is a state of its own with its own currency. It has many attractions such as St. Peters Bascilica, the sixteenth chapel and many more beautiful churches with many historic statues and artworks.

Rome is also known for its fine dinning. For the most authentic food(family owned restaurants) it is best to head to Piazza Di Sanata Marie. Where the food is the most authentic and traditionally cooked, usually by mothers and wifes of the gentlemen who own the restaurant. The atmosphere of the restaurants is very nice aswell, service is kind and regular as it is members of the family that is serving you.

Safe travelling!
